This is the scene after I back out of our drive and head west down the lane to the old highway, which is now a deadend.
Down the hill on the old highway to the main road.
Pillen Family Farms' (of the pork production industry) new office building. See the outline of the pig in the brick false front?
My brother's house

Heading back home, via another route
One of Daniels' Produce trucks. From their webpage: Daniels Produce is a family owned and operated grower-packer-shipper of fresh produce. We proudly raise over 600 acres of sweet corn, bell peppers, hot peppers, zucchini, eggplant and cabbage. We will also have a small quantities of melons, tomatoes, and eggplant for our retail stands.
Jeremy and Lydia's beautiful home, which Jeremy built. His new pickup is in the drive.
West on Shady Lake Road.
Here, the road cuts right through the middle of a farmplace. The house and a couple of barns are on the north, and several more barns and outbuildings, along with pastures and fields for their cattle and the corn they grow, are on the south. I've found this farm intriguing since I was a little girl.
Straight ahead, across the highway and up the hill, is the lane to our house.

The last rose of summer
One of the spring-blooming lavender hostas rebloomed!
Boston ivy
Autumn Joy sedum
One of the last purple coneflowers
Most of the coneflowers look like this. The finches love the seeds; but enough falls to the ground to increase the stand of coneflowers every year.
I went in the house, sat down at the piano, played a few songs -- and suddenly noticed a couple of feet, a tail, and an ear poking out from under Larry's quilt. (That's Larry's guitar.)
