Photos: Drive to Omaha, Standing Bear Lake

Today I went to Omaha to visit my brother.  There are still trees and branches down in many areas from last Wednesday night's storm, which packed winds of 100 mph.  Many of the big, beautiful trees at Standing Bear Lake were damaged, or had come down entirely.  At the height of the storm, over 250,000 people were without electricity.  There are still tens of thousands without power.  Some who had electricity restored have lost it again, due to weakened branches coming down on power lines.

Driving home, the skies to the north were blue and clear; but toward the east it was hazy, caused by smoke from wildfires in Colorado.
