Today we went first to Lincoln so Larry could have his teeth realigned; then on to Victoria, Kansas, to pick up a baler Larry bought for a good price on an online auction. It's 85 miles from our house to Affordable Dentistry; 261 miles from the dentist's office to Victoria, Kansas; and 277 miles from Victoria back home again. Total mileage, 623.
It was a bit foggy when we left, cloudy most of the day, with a bit of rain sometimes and a ferocious downpour near Salina, Kansas, around 3:00 p.m. Before the rain, the clouds were behaving strangely, swirling slowly here and there, with multiple layers going myriad directions and dropping wispy little tails like small, mischievous whirlwinds. I pulled up several weather apps for the area on my laptop and discovered that yes indeed, they were under a tornado watch.
But nothing more significant than the hard rain occurred, and Larry and the man from whom he bought it were able to load the baler onto his trailer without getting rained on.
