Friday night's supper from Panera Bread. I got a cup of Broccoli Cheddar Soup, Fuji Apple Salad with Chicken, a Mango Smoothie, a Bear Claw – and of course the customary chunks of bread with both the salad and the soup.
There is now only $1.18 left on the $30 gift certificate from one of the kids. Good grief. But I saved one chunk of bread, half the Bear Claw, and two-thirds of the salad for the next day, so I wouldn’t have to buy any lunch. That’s not too bad, I guess.
Gotta check out the peephole! 😄
Yep, it works.
My window looked out on a small woods.
Driving to Saylorville Lake
Vultures, some sleeping, on the posts out to the tower.
Turkey vultures
Great blue heron
White pelicans
Uh, oh, ... what's coming??
It's getting closer...
Incoming!!!
Another Great blue heron comes in for a landing!
This is trickier than it looks...
He turns... he sizes up the situation...
-- and he proceeds to strut in a menacing manner toward heron No. 1, who was only doing herony sorts of things and minding his own business.
Heron No. 1 on the left; heron No. 2 on the right.
He flaps angrily -- "This is MY side of the lake! MINE, I tell you!" --
And away goes Great blue No. 1 in search of more peaceful pastures. Uh, waters.
Great blue No. 2 shakes his ruffled feathers back into place and preens smugly. "Ha! That'll teach 'im."
Time to head south to the Iowa Events Center, where the AQS Quilting Show is being held.
