Photos: Platte County Fair

Hester and I went to the Platte County Fair this evening.  Before going into the building where all the fair entries were, we strolled through some of the stables.

The poor chickens were panting, it was so hot.

I don't know if this one had a proper name or not; but it should have been named 'Phyllis Diller'.

(mutter mutter)

"Here comes more sightseers."

"Sightseers, sightseers.  That's all I see all day long, is sightseers."

"Ah, well..."  (Sigggggghhhhhhh...)  "Might as well launch the routine."

"Howdy, howdy!"

"How ya doin', how ya doin'?"

"I floss!"

"You?"

"All right, the salutations are out of the way; now let's talk horse."

"Did you know there are just two steps to riding a horse?
Step One:  Mount the horse.
Step Two:  Stay mounted."

"You wanna know what horse sense really is?"
((...pause...))
"It's what keeps horses from betting on humans."

"Oh, you're leaving?  You'll be coming back, won't you?  And could you bring me a funnel cake?"

"Ignore him.  He's full of horsefeathers."

BEARS!

Little Bear:  "Hey, Ma, let's play!"
Ma Bear:  "Leave me alone, kid; it's too hot to play!"

Little Bear:  "Ah, c'mon."
Ma Bear:  "It's too HOT, I tell you!"

Little Bear:  "Play!  Play!!  PLAY!!!"
Ma Bear:  "GRRRRRR!!  I'm warnin' you, whippersnapper..."

Little Bear:  "Oooo!  Sorry!  Sorry.  Look how sorry I am."
Ma Bear:  "Grunt."

Little Bear:  "Just a little game??"
Ma Bear:  "GrrrrARRRRRarrrarrr!!!"

Little Bear:  "Ah, pleeeeeeeeeze."
Ma Bear:  ((ominous rumble))

Little Bear:  "But just look how cute I am!"
Ma Bear:  "All right, that's it!  You get in your corner now, before I come and put you there."

Little Bear:  "Okay, okay!  I'm going, I'm going."
((Ma Bear settles back down.))
