A Vacation Day at Long Pine

Last night Larry and I stayed overnight at the Long Pine cabin.  This morning, we took the Long Pine Cabin wall hanging to the owners of the cabins.  They were delighted with it; I'm glad I made it for them.  We hiked around the wooded hills near the cabin, then went to Keller State Park.

These photos of a nuthatch on a tree trunk just outside our cabin's patio door aren't so good, because the little bird refused to come out of the shadowed side of the trunk, nor would he hold still for half a split second.

I finally found time to open up my Bucilla cross-stitched butterfly quilt kit.

Larry, who'd gone out hunting at 5:30 a.m., took a nap -- and I got a bit of embroidery done.

Would you believe, that little pile of embroidery floss cost $27.50?!

Here's what it's supposed to look like when it's done:

Larry is toting my camera case; we're heading down into the valley behind the cabin, and we'll hike through the woods for half an hour or so.

There's our cabin up there.

Those shoes are... bright!

The sign is for hunters coming from the other side of the ridge.  The property owners don't want their guests getting shot at.

A stop at the archery range so Larry can release his crossbow.  He shot several arrows and readjusted the scope -- it must've gotten bumped or jarred as we traveled, as it was off slightly -- enough that he missed the one and only buck he took a shot at this morning.  The buck lives on.

Dandelion still blooming even though it's November 7.
