Photos: Raccoon (and an Opossum) at the Bird Feeders

Raccoon (and an opossum) at the bird feeders at 4:00 a.m.

Wow, I found a smorgasbord!

But I'm not sure about this sorta old Nyjer seed.

I think I'll climb up here...

Oh, yummy!  There are black oil sunflower seeds in this feeder.

Huh?

Who's flashing that bright light at me?

Well, that's a bit too spooky.

I'll just back up...

...a little more...

Maybe if I show my sharp white teeth...

(or am I just crunching up a seed?)

I really do have strong, sharp teeth!

But I hardly ever bite humans.

Still backing up...

I wonder if I can hide in this feeder station tower?

Excuse me a moment; have to take care of an itch.

Oh, hey!  Here's a seed!

I think I'll get another mouthful.

But that person keeps flashing that bright light at me!

Okay, I got the behinder of me inside the tower...

It's hidden now, right?

Never mind.  I'm exiting, stage right.

Over the iron deck bench...

...and out the other end.  Byeeee!

Three hours later, the sun came up.

At 20 after 8 this evening, the raccoon was back.

Here he is, just havin' The Life of Riley.

But the flash disturbs him.  Bleah to you, too!

Of all the noive.

Turning around...

Heading back the other way...

Oops!  Found a seed!

Maybe I should go now.

Shall I get down that way...

or this way?

This way it is.

This is tricky...

Aaaaaaa!  How far up am I, anyway??

This is kind of scary!

I'll hang on tight...

...take my time...

...be careful...

...just a little farther...

Annnnd... I made it!

Let's see now... where's the exit?

You and that flashy thingy!

I recall the stairs are over here.  I think.

I just have to clamber over this speed bump...

...scooch under the iron deck bench...

Nobody can see me under here, right?

Ah!  Here are the steps!

Down we go.

The End.

Well, almost.  An opossum strolled through, and found the old Nyjer seed I'd poured out for them.  Look, the little seeds are all over his nose!  Bye, see ya later!
