Photos: From Halsey to Merritt Reservoir

Another of the never-ending coal trains. They average about 120 cars per train.

Middle Loup River

The windmills are often short in the Sandhills, to protect them from the unceasing winds.

Fawn and doe white-tail deer

"Oh! Ma, what's she pointing at us?! A bazooka???!!!"

"Okay, that does it. I'm outa heeeeere!"

"Bleat! Kids these days. Always running from their own shadows."

"Okay, okay, I'm coming. Slow down, you whippersnapper, wouldja?!"

"No, not me! I'm goooone!"

"All right, then, let's go this way."

Fawn #2 finally leaps to his feet and dashes after his mother and sibling.

"Wait for meeeeeee..."

And... they're gone.

But wait! What's this over here in the prairie grasses? It's a wild turkey!

No, it's FIVE wild turkeys!
