Photos: Roses, Orchids, Succulents, and a Bird Bath

Double Knock-Out rose

Stella d'Oro daylily

The Phalaenopsis orchids from my sister-in-law's funeral are blooming like anything.

Succulents

Old-fashioned rose which came from a root at my mother's house. Her roses, in turn, came from a clipping of her mother's roses in North Dakota.

This succulent is about to bloom.

Coral Bells

Incoming!

Four-point landing

Tiny little bee on tiny little coral bells. The blossoms are no bigger than my littlest fingernail.

Terraced flower garden below the back deck landing. Two different kinds of hostas, Autumn Joy sedum, and daylilies. I let milkweed grow in this garden, too, because it's the only host for the Monarch butterfly.

I set up another bird bath, this one a heavy ceramic one that Victoria got cheap from Earl May Gardening Center when she used to work there before she was married. It had a chip on it somewhere, so they let her have it for a fraction of the price.

She told me to go ahead and use it, as she doesn’t want an added job of caring for a bird bath at the moment. I want to put a fountain in it; the birds love those.
