Cutworm(?) Moth, House finches, Squirrel, Phalaenopsis Orchid, & Roses

In February, I got a new Tamron 90mm macro lens. Here are a few shots I took today.

The moth was on the outside sill of the window peering in, high enough that I couldn't see the other side of him, and by the time I went out on the deck to take a look, the sun had warmed him and he'd flown away. So I'm not sure what kind of a moth he was.

I'm pretty sure he's wondering, Is it safer in there with a few flyswatters, or is it safer out here, with all these birds racketing around??

The Phalaenopsis orchid Hester and Andrew gave me for Mother's Day four or five years ago is blooming profusely.

It's warming up outside, the flowers are beginning to bloom, and the butterflies are starting to flit through! I saw several fritillaries yesterday, and a few sulphurs. If they hold still long enough, maybe I'll get some macros of them.  The day the lens arrived, it was snowing, and the only thing I could see to take pictures of was my pincushion.

The mama squirrel and the house finches were enjoying the sunflower seeds today:

Note the difference in color of these two male house finches.

House finches don't have crests, but they can certainly raise the feathers atop their heads!  He's watching the squirrel on the table, and his feathers rose when the squirrel acted as if she might jump to the railing whereon the house finch was sitting.

Roses for Mother's Day:

Tabby, as usual, cannot resist throwing himself into the picture.
