Wrens, Cardinal, Squirrel, and Oriole

The wrens are busy as beavers (why doesn't anyone ever say, 'The beavers are as busy as wrens'?), building their new house.  And I finally got a few shots of them!  Now, these aren't really great photos... but... if you consider the fact that I have never, ever before even gotten so much as one blurry shot of these fast-moving tiny birds, why, then, you'll know these pictures are spectacular!  ;-D

House wren with twig

Searching for little twigs

Peering down at one of the cats

Despite their tiny size, house wrens have one of the prettiest (and loudest!) songs of any of our birds.  Hear it here:  Wren Song

"Aaaaaa!!!  Blue jay!  Blue jay flying low overhead!"

"Whew!  Where'd that guy go?"

"Guess it's safe to head off for more twigs..."

Looks like he found one!

He pauses on the peak, looking all around to be sure it's safe to fly to the nest site...
