Driving from Chadron to Columbus, with a stop at Keller State Recreation Area to catch a couple of rainbow trout.
There are many of these short windmills out west. The constant winds are so strong, a tall windmill might be whipped to shreds.

Somebody had a successful hunt.
The former Valentine Railroad Bridge southeast of Valentine, Nebraska, is the jewel of the "Cowboy Trail" that stretches across northern Nebraska. This railroad was abandoned in 1992 and was converted to a hiking/biking trail by the Nebraska Game & Parks Commission. A book, The Valentine Railroad Bridge, detailing every aspect of this bridge, has been published by railroad historian Jerry Penry of Milford, Nebraska. The 140-foot-tall steel bridge was built in 1909-10.
Bryan Bridge over the Niobrara. Pin-connected arch bridge designated 'Most Beautiful Steel Bridge' in its year. Built in 1932. Named after then-sitting Nebraska governor Charles W. Bryan. Now on the National Register of Historic Places.

He caught two large rainbow trout. A couple of days later, we had them for supper, smoked on the Traeger grill, with broccoli, toasted bagels, and applesauce. Mmmm, mmm.

It's been raining somewhere to the west -- the river is flowing much faster and deeper than when I crossed it just an hour earlier.
