Photos: Torrington, Wyoming, to Chadron, Nebraska

Homeward bound from Torrington, Wyoming -- but we only made it to Chadron, Nebraska (barely), on account of a transmission line break.

Anybody need a car or two or three? Not guaranteed roadworthiness.

Anybody need a house? Well-aerated.

And then, at this scenic overlook 7 miles west of the little town of Crawford, we discovered we had a broken transmission line, and fluid was leaking, *fassst*.

Larry

Larry 'fixed' the line the best he could with gorilla tape, and we limped on to Crawford.

Note that the shoulder is not often wide enough to park on, and it's hilly enough to hide a parked vehicle from view.

Almost there...

Fort Robinson State Park. Crawford is just the other side of the Park.

Made it to Crawford, bought gallons of transmission fluid at the Dollar Store, and now we're trying to make it to Chadron, 24 miles farther east. It's Sunday; parts houses will be closed. But they'll have motels, and we'll get the truck fixed in the morning.

Wouldn't you know, we have to stop for roadwork, way out here in the boonies, and on a Sunday, of all things.  And the leak keeps on a-leaking...

Chadron! We've made it.

Our motel room. Pretty pictures... *big* pictures... Mt. Rushmore. A little funny for directly over a bed.

My photo-editing program wants me to label three of those faces. It didn't even notice poor Teddy Roosevelt!
