Photos: Black Canyon of the Gunnison

Today we drove to Blue Mesa Reservoir and Black Canyon of the Gunnison. The bottom of the Gorge only receives 33 minutes of sunlight a day. The National Park contains 12 miles (19 km) of the 48-mile (77 km) long Black Canyon of the Gunnison River. It is 2,722 feet deep -- more than half a mile deep. By comparison, the Royal Gorge is only 1,250 feet deep.
