Photos: From McCook, Nebraska, to Creede, Colorado

Campground in McCook, Nebraska.  It's free!

Little building on the left is the shower house.

The train is carrying pedestals for wind turbines.

What does this cloud look like to you?

Main Street!

And... Sharp Avenue!

We always love that first glimpse of the mountains!  They're still a hundred miles away.

Finally, heading up into the foothills!

The aspens are turning colors...

Mt. Blanca, at ‎14,351 ft (4374 m), the fourth highest mountain of North America.

Whew, it's hard to drive again the setting sun, especially at an altitude of about 7,500 ft.

And then it was too dark to take pictures.  We got to Mountain Views at River's Edge RV Park at 8:30 p.m., just half an hour before the gateman departs his post.

  1. I enjoy your pictures and the "flat" land.
How do you take your pictures? You are in the pickup--do you just shoot through a window? You can't stop all the time--you would never get anywhere and I don't see window frames or glare in the pictures. I tried it but you can tell I was in a vehicle.
And all your quilts are beautiful!!

    1. Yep, I do a lot of drive-by shootings. 😄 I often roll my window down... or ask Larry to roll his window down. We try to keep the windshield clean so my photos through it are okay -- but if the sun is shining on the glass, it's never very good. My big lens (75-300mm) is best for shots through the windshield, as it has a narrower field of focus, and will 'look past' the bug splats! 😅 A picture is only as good as its weakest link -- the windshield, in my case.
