Cabin at Pine Valley Resort, Long Pine, Nebraska

We are on our way to Ft. Pierre, South Dakota, to pick up a skid loader for a man Larry works with.  We left home last night and drove to Long Pine, Nebraska, where we stayed in one of seven nicely-kept cabins at the Pine Valley Resort.  Each is equipped with a fully-equipped kitchen, not including the food.  I should've brought coffee!  Butter!  Eggs!  Milk!  At least we had bagels... cheese... juice... iced tea... granola bars... and a small cup of coffee each, just the amount left in the Thermos.

Ah, well.  Next time.

The population of Long Pine was 287 in 2013 -- down from 400 in 1990.

The person who decorated this particular cabin was partial to zebras and giraffes.

The giraffe had a place of honor -- atop the refrigerator.

The view out the windows mostly consisted of forest.

One other cabin could be seen from one window.

Larry's '89 Chevy one-ton.  He owned it about 20 years ago, sold it, and found it again last year.  It has a diesel motor in it.

This cabin has a back deck that overlooks a deep arroyo.  There is a stream about 200 yards farther on.

  1. That looks so fun. Hope he enjoys the skid loader, but I have no idea what that even is. Love your photos.
