Heading Home

Bad River -- used to be known as the Teton River.  It is about 161 miles long and carries hard water of generally poor quality.

Some of the Black Angus calves in the pastures along the highway looked to be fresh-hatched, sometimes just shakily standing to their feet, with their mothers' licks nearly upending them.

Pheasant in the median

All the way south to Ainsworth on Routes 83 and 183, we saw more pheasants than we'd ever before seen in our lives.  There were hundreds of them besides the road, sometimes alone, but more often in little flocks (called 'bouquets') of half a dozen or so.  Out in the fields, there were hundreds more.

It's getting dark... time to put the camera away!  The last few photos were less than stellar, partly because it's getting dark and I have my big lens on, and partly because the road is rough.  But my photos are not so much for winning contests as they are for memories.  That last one is blurry... but I like it anyway!

No spectacular sunset tonight; it's cloudy in the west.
